Bait and switch

I needed two rooms. When I called Jessica at Getaroom.com, she said that two were available for $149.55 each.

I was also paying for a room for a friend. After I paid for the first one, she started a transaction for the next one. But then she told me that the next room was now $210.

When I asked to cancel both, she said they were non-refundable. The cost of the room at the hotel was $50 cheaper than using this website.

The entire company is built upon draining you of time and energy, just so that you, hopefully for them, will give up. I will never let this go, and I encourage anyone else who is unfortunate to stay as far away as you possibly can.

Scammed while searching for hotels on Google Maps

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I was searching for a hotel on Google Maps and clicked on a link which I thought was Priceline. I clicked the link which listed the price of $94 for one night.

Entered my payment info and clicked submit. I should have figured something was wrong when it didn't give me a total.

I immediately received notice from my card that I was charged $304. I looked on the email confirmation which said I had booked two nights. I immediately called the number on my email confirmation and asked to change it back to one night.

They said the policy states "no refunds" and refused to make any comprises.

The confirmation statement also lists a $91.84 "Tax recovery charges & service fees".

(Have you ever experienced a hotel Tax at 50%?)

NOTE: the email confirmation came from "hotelvalues.com" while the hotel personal said the reservation came from "getaroom.com".

I recommend contacting the hotel, let them know what happened, and suggest that they stop doing business with them. Also, keep the receipt from the hotel and contest the charge with your bank (credit card issuer), and submit a report directly to Visa or Mastercard corporations.

I suggest filing a complaint with the FBI at "complaint.ic3.gov" (note: "www." is not needed)

Book a room with free cancellation, yet I am being charged even though I've cancelled my booking immediately. The reason I cancelled was because the price completely changed from what was originally booked when it came to the final payment.

How the *** do I speak to someone at this place?...

How the *** do I speak to someone at this place? The 3578 number is all automated with no option to speak with a real person if you don't know the information.

I didn't even know I booked through this company.

Called the hotel to cancel my room. Still got charged.

Such a scam. They mask their website to look like the actual hotel then dont disclose the fees even after the purchase.

It just says taxes and fees. They charged 50% of the total stay!!! I cancelled then rebooked with the hotel and saved a ton of money.

They kept me on hold for 20 minutes to cancel. ***

I inadvertently texted a mistake in my email address and also the booking has been done for 2 people instead of 1. That is Thora Barron, if the change is made for Travel Lodge, 9 Bridge Street, Aberdeen I will be very happy.

I do not have a booking reference or information about dates and suitable arrival and departure times. All required for me to enjoy my trip.

I have tried many times to phone you but it is always engaged.

Feel Scammed

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Stay away from getaroom.com, apparently a subsidiary of priceline. Quite honestly if priceline is supporting this business, I won't be using them either.

The fine print says that the hotel is non-refundable. I get it. But when you go to cancel it is the easiest thing to do, and it makes it seem like everything is fine and your refund is on the way.

I wonder if I showed up to keep my booking if I would even have a room waiting for me.

WORST HOTEL BOOKING EXPERIENCE EVER. Customer service is NO help - after all, what do they care, they have your money AND get to book the room again.
