I was looking for a hotel room for one night stay. They present the rooms as if they are the hotel and you are booking directly.

After you agree to a room fee they email you with a different total adding their third party fees and a non refundable policy that you never agreed to when booking. I called right away and told them I had not agree to pay those fees and to please cancel my reservation. They said they would try. I called the hotel directly explained the situation and cancelled my room.

Get a room still charged my credit card for the full amount. I disputed the charges and now these people are only showing as proof of booking the final summary they sent to email with the non refundable notice and the added fees that are never shown when you book originally.

Booked a room online that looked just like the hotel I wanted to book! Found out on the receipt it was this horrible company!

Immediately called to cancel transaction for the 2 night stay! They wanted to charge me a "penalty" 2x the cost of the room. They agreed to a full refund but proceeded the payment, agreed to a refund again but never issued it...they just keep lying about the refund for the penalty. I will be contact the news, state attorney, FTC and every social media account until they give me back my money they stole.

They have lied to everyone in order to keep this $1268.50 for the one minute it took me to call, they processed the de UT under the hotel name ( not their own), they have agreed twice is issue a refund but have not attempted to submit it! They said the hotel agreed to the cancelation on Jan. 4 but the hotel agreed to it when I called on Nov.

6! They are pure thieves...Run!

SCAMMED OUT OF HOTEL BOOKING

Getaroom - SCAMMED OUT OF HOTEL BOOKING

Such Scammers! PLEASE DO NOT FALL FOR THIS TRAP.

i first went on their website to book a hotel which showed me £90 for the complete booking. Then at the end after inputting my details, it confirmed taking the amount.. Immediately i was on the phone with customer service to explain something went wrong and it was taken with the wrong amount as well as the check in dates, the amount was wrong and the customer rep i spoke to adviced me that this is not refundable but she can speak with the hotel. So she asked if i wanted to cancel and reach out to the hotel, not understanding that the hotel will refuse if we cancelled.

they played me and kept my £180.

Any sort of communication or me trying to contact the manager is met with opposition, rude customer service. AVOID AT ALL COST.

Resolved: HORRIBLE!

Updated by user Feb 26, 2024

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. I wrote an email to their customer service department and also wrote reviews on Google, PissedConsumer and 2 other websites. They apparently heard me, reviewed the booking and my immediate cancellation, 1 minute later, which was within their 24 hour grace period, and honored their rules - 5 days later.

Original review Feb 19, 2024
I am furious with this company!
I made a reservation online and when I received the email confirmation, it said nonrefundable. I called but couldnt get any help so I emailed immediately and received an auto response with a case number.
2 days later, I called again to speak to someone because I have not received a resolution.

To my horror, I spoke to Angie. She talked over me 100% of the time and never answered my question.

She repeated the same few sentences for over 40 minutes!
She is the least intelligent representative I could ever have imagined speaking to - ANYWHERE!
I requested a transfer to a supervisor or manager after about 4 minutes and she refused to transfer my call.
She is infuriating and refused to give me any way of identifying her for my complaint.
I was informed at the beginning of the call that I was on a recorded line and I waited for a manager for over an hour, hoping, begging that I could get someone to LISTEN TO THE CALL.
The 1st reason for my call was to attempt to resolve the booking. But after 45 minutes on the phone, I just really want to do all their potential customers a favor and get her fired.
If you hear ANGIE answer the phone, hang up!!!

Scammed while searching for hotels on Google Maps

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I was searching for a hotel on Google Maps and clicked on a link which I thought was Priceline. I clicked the link which listed the price of $94 for one night.

Entered my payment info and clicked submit. I should have figured something was wrong when it didn't give me a total.

I immediately received notice from my card that I was charged $304. I looked on the email confirmation which said I had booked two nights. I immediately called the number on my email confirmation and asked to change it back to one night.

They said the policy states "no refunds" and refused to make any comprises.

The confirmation statement also lists a $91.84 "Tax recovery charges & service fees".

(Have you ever experienced a hotel Tax at 50%?)

NOTE: the email confirmation came from "hotelvalues.com" while the hotel personal said the reservation came from "getaroom.com".

I recommend contacting the hotel, let them know what happened, and suggest that they stop doing business with them. Also, keep the receipt from the hotel and contest the charge with your bank (credit card issuer), and submit a report directly to Visa or Mastercard corporations.

I suggest filing a complaint with the FBI at "complaint.ic3.gov" (note: "www." is not needed)

Feel Scammed

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Stay away from getaroom.com, apparently a subsidiary of priceline. Quite honestly if priceline is supporting this business, I won't be using them either. The fine print says that the hotel is non-refundable. I get it. But when you go to cancel it is the easiest thing to do, and it makes it seem like everything is fine and your refund is on the way. I wonder if I showed up to keep my booking if I would even have a room waiting for me. WORST HOTEL BOOKING EXPERIENCE EVER. Customer service is NO help - after all, what do they care, they have your money AND get to book the room again.

Horrible Experience

I have never felt so scammed in my life. I made a reservation through what was advertised at one rate and when i went to confirm the payment, it thanked me for paying a doubled amount.

I immediately called them and they said there was nothing they could do. After over an hour of not accepting this, they finally said "well if the hotel says you can cancel, we will give your refund"

I called the hotel explaining I want to cancel the room and get my refund with getaroom to then book through the hotel directly, and the hotel said of course you can. I went ahead and booked with the hotel right then and decided I would cancel if they didnt confirm my refund. When I called getaroom back she said we need to speak to the hotel and then we will call you back.

She calls back and says okay we will give you a refund within 24 hours, we will send you a confirmation email. Where I made the mistake is not waiting on that email, however I had already been on the phone for over 2 hours trying to deal with this on my last day of vacation. I never got an email.

When checking out of the hotel, they said I did not book through them that I had booked through the 3rd party. So what clearly happened is when they called the hotel directly, they somehow communicated that I was going to book with them.

Which was NOT TRUE. I have had a headache with my bank ever since, since they technically have documents that I paid and got a room there.

Do yourself a favor, stay away

Dishonest and deceptive

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I thought I was booking a room with a reputable hotel, after confirming the reservation (the hotel never charges the full amount until arrival), I saw that this was not the hotel. I immediately called this company to advise that I did not want to book with them.

They told me I would be charged a penalty 4× a room rate. I contacted my credit card company to dispute any charges they night attempt to make. I contacted them again, Ben agreed to waive the penalty of $1248.50. Even though he agreed to waive it, they proceeded to seek payment from my card.

Very deceptive and I received no consideration for anything. I did not wait to cancel or to advise anyone.

This was not a legitimate contract and they breached their agreement to waive this exorbitant charge. However, they still sought payment.

This is a scam company. Made a one night reservation. Tried immediately to cancel due to finding their rates about $30 higher than booking with the hotel. They refused to cancel my reservation cost.

Made a reservation with what was represented as the hotel website. After making the reservation noted the cost was much higher than usual. Checked with the hotel and it was about $30 lower. The getaroom scammers refused to refund my reservation offering only a 10% discount. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE. THEY ARE A SCAM!!!DO NOT USE GETAROOM website make sure you are not being directed there.

Clicked on Hampton Inn reservations. Redirected to getaroom site without my knowledge. Made reservation using my credit card. Then saw the added almost $70 of service fees added to the total. Tried immediately to cancel. They refused offering a 10% discount. When you want to cancel a reservation, they keep one night charge. Scam website with a D- BBB rating due to the number of complaints. Hilton should not do business with scammers.

I reserved 2 rooms through the Embassy Suite website phone number, getaroom was the third party. They only reserved 1 room but charge for the 2.

When I dispute the charge through my credit card they lied and said I reserved the 2 rooms at a different hotel, so the credit card chargeback even dough I had called the hotel that getaroom said I reserved the rooms at and spoke to account manager that confirm no reservation was ever made by getaroom for me. Getaroom excuse for not refunding me is that the crerdit card chargeback.

Please be aware that hotels reservation telephone numbers and website are now thru a third party and when this happen the credit card company and the hotels washes theirs hand and leave you to deal with the third party... A NIGHTMARE!.
