Avoid this company at all costs. Always confirm you’re speaking directly with the hotel and not a third-party booking service. Verified ReviewerDeceptive Practices and Scamming Tactics
I had a deeply frustrating and deceptive experience with a company that misrepresented itself as the hotels guest reservation desk. This company (later revealed to be GetARoom) employs shady practices to mislead and overcharge customers.
1.Misrepresentation of Identity:
When I called to book a room, I thought I was speaking directly to the hotels guest reservation desk. They never disclosed they were a third-party booking service. Instead, they gave the impression they were part of the hotel staff. This was a blatant lie.
2.False Claims About Room Availability:
I was told that my room block was fully booked, which was a critical misrepresentation because they cannot book rooms under a block as a third-party service. Later, I discovered the hotel had plenty of rooms available, and this company simply couldnt access the block. 3.Pressure Tactics and Exaggerated Pricing:
They falsely claimed only two rooms were left and those were significantly more expensive than my groups block rate. To convince me to book, they offered a 25% discount on the higher rate, claiming I'd save money.
This was entirely untrue. 4.Hidden Fees and Misleading Payment Information:
They quoted a specific price but didnt disclose additional fees like a membership fee. The final total was nearly $100 more than the price I was told. I was then told the booking would have to also be non-refundable because of the limited availability they had fabricated.
5.Admitted to Being Third-Party After Persistent Questioning:
When I received a confirmation email from GetARoom, I immediately asked if this was the hotel. The representative doubled down, saying they were authorized to sell rooms for the hotel. After I pressed further, they finally admitted they were a third-party company, becoming rude and unhelpful as they tried to rush me off the phone. 6.Resolution Only After Extensive Effort:
When I saw the receipt, which was almost double what I expected, I called the actual hotel.
They informed me that this is a well-known scam by this company and advised me to escalate. After a long back-and-forth involving GetARoom and Priceline (who passed the buck back to GetARoom despite now owning this company), I was finally refunded. They only relented after reviewing the call recording, acknowledging a miss on their part, and refunded me in good faith. It took several days and the person who finally called me to give me my refund was the first person to say they were with Priceline.
Key Takeaways:This company deliberately misleads customers, making it seem like youre booking directly with the hotel. They use high-pressure tactics, false claims of scarcity, and bait-and-switch pricing to manipulate you into overpaying.Hidden fees are common, and theyll refuse to take responsibility until you push hard for accountability.
Avoid this company at all costs.
Always confirm youre speaking directly with the hotel and not a third-party booking service. This ordeal wasted hours of my time, caused unnecessary stress, and only ended with a resolution because I refused to back down.
Be wary of any booking service that doesnt disclose who they are upfront! Ive only ever booked Marriot hotels so when I tried to book an unfamiliar hotel I didnt even consider checking the website.

I made two reservations, both charded by getaroom. I wrote a few emails snd no one got back to me.
The reservation was for sana hotel berlin 16-20/03.
The fist reservation was for 2 people , starting witk the letter R was cancelled.
The second wan was made a few minutes later but i got a different res no 173944. I never got a confirmation no nor an accout or voucher to be able to manage the confirmation.
Both charges on my credit car are from getaroom.
I wasnt able to trace my order so far.
The hotel says i have a reservation for 5 days unlike my previuos reservation which is really strange , since i am staying in berlin till 20 of march.
But there was no way for me to see the error nir manage the reservation since i never even got any feedback or reservation no or some kind of indicatiin to be able to manage my account , which i have to say is very odd.
I will further contact my credit card company to try and chase the order sn open a dispute since you never got back to the endless msil i sent you.
Will sppriciate if you ca contact me today adap 1430 berlin time.
Thank you.

Verified ReviewerPrepaid rooms not available
I booked and prepaid for two rooms for two nights at The Ahwahnee, and on arrival, the hotel manager informed me that only one room had been booked, and it was not the correct room configuration. I called the company, and the only option is to chat with an AI assistant, which is useless.
I then emailed them and received an email stating that they had contacted the front desk at the hotel and the issue was resolved.
I went to the front desk, and they confirmed that they received no call. I require a refund for the additional room I paid for, but they are now refusing to respond to my follow-up emails.

Verified ReviewerDeceptive sales practices
I booked a room at Magic Village Yards, Trademark Collection by Wyndham, through Getaroom.com, and what I experienced was highly deceptive marketing. The room was advertised for just $59.21 per night, which seemed like a great deal.
However, when I proceeded to check out, I was shocked to see a staggering 'Tax Recovery Charges & Service Fees' of $394.70, making the total amount $453.91 for a one-night stay! I did not finalize the booking after seeing this hidden and outrageous fee, but to my surprise, I still received a confirmation email as if I had gone through with the transaction. This is highly misleading and feels like a tactic to trick customers into paying much more than they initially anticipated. I would not recommend booking through this platform, as it lacks transparency and clearly engages in deceptive pricing practices.
Getaroom failed to identify itself as a third-party company and misled me into believing I was booking directly with the hotel. Additionally, it did not disclose the non-cancellation policy or the extra fees I would have avoided by booking directly through the hotel.
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: Don’t book
Charged for room did not use

Charged me extortionate rates for a booking and even charged my card after I declined the transaction when I saw the amount I was supposed to pay. I've had to cancel my credit card as a result.
These guys are scammers!
The hotel has kindly cancelled the reservation but it is up to them to now click the link from booking.com to cancel the reservation. And I can't do it because they didn't use my email address for my hotel reservation.

Verified ReviewerGetaroom.com or guestreservation.com misleading and deceptive methods
I made a reservation in April 2024 for a room at Harrahs in Atlantic City from June 24 to June 28, 2024. The problem is that a Google search brought me to a third-party booking website that mimicked the Harrahs website.
The URL is guestreservations.com, which could easily have been mistaken for Harrahs. I thought I was booking a room directly with the hotel. There was no indication that it was a third-party vendor. I made the reservation using a mobile phone.
In any case, I booked a room, as the website clearly indicated that the reservation was refundable up to June 22, 2024. This was perfect as we were not exactly sure when we would need to return. I booked the room and received an email confirmation that stated the booking was nonrefundable. This is not what was advertised, so I called 25 minutes after booking, as soon as I realized the problem.
They asked if I wanted to cancel and I said yes, assuming this meant a full refund. It's not unusual to cancel a nonrefundable purchase as long as the problem is immediately addressed once it is discovered. As it turned out, they did cancel the reservation but did not provide a refund. So, this is the second deception.
The end result is, they have taken the full amount of $916, which they will not refund and I don't even have a booking.
I made a reservation through my mobile phone on guestreservation.com, and there was no indication of whether the booking was refundable or not.
When I asked to cancel, they did not indicate that they would not refund the booking. I had simply believed that the website's statement, 'Free cancellation before 12:00 am June 22, 2024', meant cancellation with a full refund!
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: run away from guestreservation.com or getaroom

Getaroom is a 3rd party middleman. They are not directly connected with the facility you are trying to make reservations with.
When you involve these 3rd parties into the mix, you encounter all sorts of problems, for example what you are experiencing.
ALWAYS book directly with the location themselves, don't use these online travel agencies. The hassle is not worth the few dollars or euros you may save.
